“NFB and NASC have come together to support the governments growth agenda and our ‘Growth through Construction’ event does just that by bringing together captains for industry, celebrating where we excel, identify where reforms could have the most impact and most importantly, informing our decision makers how growth is sustained.
Wayne Connolly, president of the NASC (pictured above, third from left), added: "With 1,200 weekly scaffolding vacancies and an estimated 40,000 more scaffolders required to meet the housing targets alone, the three years training for this specialised role takes us to the final year of this parliament.
“Technology can only take us so far and therefore difficult decisions need to be taken, such as combining the use of immigration in the short term with investment in skills for the longer term, to boost growth.”
